What we’re witnessing today is the emergence of a singular design creativity. Taking their cues from sources as varied as nanostructures, biological systems, topography, and cosmology, designers are introducing new areas of study and influence to their field and endowing their objects with new types of functional gradients.
In early February we’ll be working in Felipe Carrillo Puerto and the area around the Sian Ka’an Biosphere reserve. We’re currently developing materials for a hands-on artisan workshop. The majority of this visit will be to familiarize us with this project, participants, communities, and partner to tell their story.
Our community is made up of designers, collaborators, project participants – all forming a partnership to work on projects for the social good. Using googleMaps, we locate our project sites in Mexico.
Design Thinking is Everywhere
Lately, I’ve been coming across more and more organizations and people who are promoting innovation, design, and thinking differently as a way to make change. It’s not that we haven’t all known this all along, it’s just that it seems creativity is being embraced as a valuable and now tangible, even commodifiable, asset.
